Prayers Please! UPDATED

Would you please pray for my little brother, Joe? He suffered some serious nerve damage in a car accident last summer and is going to UC San Francisco tomorrow for a Dr's appointment...we are praying the surgeons there will be able to help him get back to normal. It is just heartbreaking to see him miss out on so much being injured these past ten months.
Thanks bloggy friends!
I'll leave you with some ridiculous cuteness
Yep, that's my girl! :)))))
UPDATE: the appointment ended up being a dead end...it ruled out one thing and left the door open for a bunch of other possibilities, so hopefully a new Dr will be able to shed some light on the situation soon :-/

Two Months!

Faith Olivia, you are two months old today!

I know, mommy and daddy can hardly believe it either!

You weigh 10 lbs, 6 oz - more than twice what you weighed when we left the hospital - and are 21.5 inches long...five inches longer than when you were born! You are now in 0-3 months clothing and will be in size 1 diapers by the end of this week. We cannot believe how big you are getting! You are developing the cutest personality...you constantly want to move and wiggle and you never want to sleep...you will hit yourself in the face, pull mommy's hair, and grunt like crazy to try to stay awake. You want to sit up and hold your head up sooooo badly...you are getting pretty good at holding your head up for longer and longer on your own. You are just getting interested in your toys...you love to "talk" to the butterflies on your bouncer! You are the queen of losing socks...mommy can't keep socks on you for longer than five minutes at a time :-/ You finally got to go to church and BabiesRUs this month and you sure liked looking at everything and everyone. You are the light of our lives...thank-you sweet princess for the best two months of our lives!

Blessed

Today I am feeling blessed...

blessed because I have a wonderful husband, a great job, and a beautiful home...

blessed because I serve a loving God who holds me in His hands...

blessed because I heard from CC today and that always brings a smile to my face...sometimes I feel like I got an adopted teenage sister or daughter out of this whole situation too...

most of all, blessed because I am mommy to the most amazing little girl in the world :)

Not sure about these guys...

Updated nursery and bathroom

Just a quick update to post pics of the final nursery and Faith's bathroom...enjoy!

 Crib and glider
 Close-up of the crib
 Cute mermaid bedding :)
Love this quilt...it's big enough that it will work on a toddler bed too!
Got these curtains for $10 at Target! They are a brown on brown stripe.

Armoire with mermaid and sea creature paintings I did.
Refinished this used armoire from a scratched up pine to a shabby chic white with aqua trim
 and knobs from Anthropologie
This shelf was my grandma's...it was an anniversary gift from my grandpa :) I did some mini paintings - the frog and princess - and my SIL helped me make the crown, jars of 'fairy dust' and framed prints.
Changing table/dresser...matches the armoire

 Faith's bathroom
This was the inspiration for the room...I got this Paris print for $15 at Hobby Lobby!!!
All these frames came from Hobby Lobby too!

There is a crack on my bathroom mirror, so a mini sketch of the Eiffel Tower is glued to cover it ;)
Shelf above the toilet.

Picture and tissue box from Hobby Lobby...I used ribbon to hang the pic so I didn't have to make more holes in my wall - ha!

Plaque with scripture from Hobby Lobby.

The shower curtain is from the Shabby Chic collection at Target...I just love the rhinestone hanging rings!

That's it for now...how y'all are having a GREAT weekend!

Ten Things I Didn't Know About Mommyhood

Here are 10 things I've learned about mommyhood in the last 6+ weeks:

1. Baby diapers are like a box of chocolates - you never know what your going to get! The most innocent looking diaper can contain the smelliest, most explosive substance known to mankind!

2. You will quickly become a poop connoisseur as a new parent. You will learn that poop comes in a variety of colors, textures, and smells.

3. Little girls can shoot pee out almost as far as little boys :-/

4. There is a huge difference between the cheap bottles and the more expensive ones...I highly recommend Dr. Brown's!

5. After tasting formula in your mouth a few hundred times it will start to taste strangely good.

6. In a sleep deprived state you will say, think, and do things you never thought you'd do; see: going to Walmart in your pajamas and putting the milk away in the pantry.

7. Those expensive baby toys you thought were a waste of money, such as a swing and bouncer, will actually save your sanity.

8. By the time you feed, burp, change, and lay baby back down you will have approximately 20 minutes before the cycle starts all over again.

9. Babies make the strangest sounds...we have heard buzzing, squeaking, grunting, chirping, growling, burping, and farting all in an hour's time.

10. You will love your child so much from the moment you set eyes on them that nothing else matters, including #s 1-9. One sweet look, grab of your finger, or sweet baby sigh against your cheek can erase everything from your mind except for pure bliss!

One month (late) and funny faces

I cannot believe my baby was one month old on the 12th! She is close to 8 lbs now - 7.11 at her last Dr's appointment on the 17th - and is close to growing out of her newborn clothes! Amazing to me since when we left the hospital she was barely over 5 lbs and newborn clothes SWAM on her! Here is my punkin' still in the hospital:

And here she is the day we left the hospital - Valentine's Day! See how huge her newborn clothes were?!

And at one month - check out those chubby cheeks and her two chins! Love it!

She wants to hold her head up so bad...she'll hold it up for 30-60 seconds when she's on my chest facing me. She is ALWAYS hungry...still waking up every 1 1/2 or so most nights! But, as long as she's gaining weight so well, it's fine with me! At her last Dr's appointment, she was gaining an average of 2 oz a DAY! The Dr also commented on how alert and aware she is...she really focuses in on faces and wants to see everything that's going on. Her eyes are also changing colors...looks like they are going to be green or hazel green...just like mine! She also has the most expressive face...here are a few of the funny faces we've captured the last couple of weeks:

We just love this little girl!!!!

Faith's Birth Story

Our little girl is here! She surprised us and came almost four weeks early, but was completely healthy - a total miracle given that she was exposed to drugs, smoking, and was early! Our little miracle! Faith Olivia Leonard was born at 4:56 PM California time on February 12th weighing 5 lbs, 6 oz and measuring 16.5 inches long.

Now for the story!
We had planned on leaving February 28th to get to Utah for her scheduled c section on March 2nd. The Dr said he didn't think early labour would be an issue, so we were unconcerned (HA!). We had even purchased airplane tickets...nonrefundable of course lol.
At around 2:30 on the 12th I had a missed call on my cell phone from the birth mom. I called her right back and she said the magic words: "My water just broke!" I think I just stood in the kitchen for a few minutes with my jaw on the floor! Finally, something clicked and I said, "We are on our way," and got Mike. We packed and were in the car with my mom within an hour...couldn't get a flight so we drove 14 hours straight to Utah.
On the way there the birthmom texted us that she had decided to see Faith...it was a little scary, but I had faith in her and God that it was the right thing to do. Around 6:30 on the 13th we arrived at the hospital and got to meet our daughter...such a surreal, amazing moment. We were nervous about how we would be treated at the hospital-our social worker had warned us that some nurses treat adoptive parents like baby snatchers-but that was not the case. Every nurse we had was amazing! We had a private room at the hospital and never had to leave our baby in the nursery...I couldn't imagine letting her out of our sight! The nurses also gave us two huge bags of formula and diapers...they were so wonderful and supportive!
The next two days were exhausting...every time the birth mother's family would come, we had to let them see Faith...so HARD! Early on Valentine's day we got the news that the birth mother had singed the relinquishment, which in Utah, is irrevocable...BEST DAY EVER! We will never be able to top that Valentine's day!
After a few days to let paperwork go through, we returned home and have been enjoying our little one ever since. She is just perfect...we don't even mind being up every hour during the night or changing those blowout diapers...it's all a big miracle to us!
Faith had her first Dr's appointment on Tuesday and is thriving...she's already surpassed her birth weight and grown almost two inches! We are so blessed and just can't believe after so many years of waiting, trying, hoping, and praying God has blessed us with the most beautiful, perfect little girl ever! :)
